On February 15, 2024, OpenAI, the company behind the most popular chatbot in the world i.e. ChatGPT, announced a new product called “Sora” which is a text-to-video model. This announcement shocked everyone because of its capability however, is Sora free to use?

What is Sora?
Sora is a text-to-video generator that you can use to generate videos by simply entering the prompt just like the way you are doing with the ChatGPT. Sora has been getting the attention of millions of people all around the world because of its ability to generate realistic videos with simple prompts.
Some people have even commented that it can generate videos that might not be possible to generate in the real world. Whoever might be reading this is quite hard to believe but once they explore the capabilities of the new model from OpenAI, they would be surprised for sure.

In this video, you can see that Sora can generate imaginative videos where elephants run in the snow, a rabbit dances with clothes, snow in China, and much more. All the clips shown in the video are generated from Sora which is quite excellent, to say the least.
According to OpenAI, you can generate imaginative videos with Sora of up to 1 minute. The duration of generating videos with Sora might change in the coming days but we’ll have to wait for that.

Unfortunately, no. There is no information on whether Sora will be free or paid because the company hasn’t revealed any information on that as of now. We’ll have to wait for at least a couple of days until we get that information.
From what we have seen with the other products of OpenAI, there are two possibilities:
- The Sora might work on a freemium basis like ChatGPT.
- Or it may follow the DALL·E way where you get limited free credits and after that, you have to purchase more credits to generate extra videos.
These are just speculations and you shouldn’t take this as a piece of official information. As I have mentioned above, we have to wait for some time until the company reveals the plans for their new product which has hooked a lot of people.
Who Can Access Sora Now?
As of today, the product i.e. Sora from OpenAI is made available to only a limited number of people, mainly for testing purposes. The people who have access are visual artists, filmmakers, designers, etc however, the names of these testers haven’t been revealed publicly.
Apart from these people, no one doesn’t have access to OpenAI’s Sora which is quite sad because after watching some samples of Sora, people cannot wait to try this product and generate awesome videos by entering the prompt.
